I have been researching my husband's family DORSETT, I live in Staffs., England, and have come across the name spelt as DORSETT, DORSET, DOREST AND DOSSETT - in fact in this area it is often pronounced DOSSETT - people who emigrated may have had their name recorded as DOSSETT possible because they couldn't spell it - if I can help let me know
