Just a correction. The Acadians who were expelled from Nova Scotia were not Hugonauts. Hugonauts were Protestants who were fleeing persecution by the Roman Catholic rulers of France. The French who were expelled were expelled because they were Catholic and would not pledge allegiance to Britain over the Pope. Just goes to show that no one has cornered the market on religious persecution.
