I. Mathias Dotterer-emigrant ancester
whose name is given as Matthues Dotter, came to America on the ship "Jacob". On the same ship were Nichlausand Martin Dotter, who may have been brothers, or sons over 16. His son, Mathias (1744-1827) was about 5 at the time because his name would not have appeared on the passenger list.

II. Mathis Dotterer, son of Mathias, was born Jan 22, 1744, became the pioneer of Lower Berks Co. His name is variously spelled Dotterer, Doottero and Toderrow. O the red sandstone that marks his grave just south of the Hill church is the following inscription. Mathias Dotterer,, son of Mathias and Catharine, born Jan 22, 1744, died June 30, 1827 aged 83y 5m 8d. His wife is buried by his side, her grave being marked, Anna Catharine, d/o Adam Imbody, w/o Mathias Dotterer. She was born May 17, 1743, married 1765, and lived in holy wedlock for 60 years. She had 2 sons, 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren at the time of her death, which occurred Feb 24, 1725 aged 81y 9m 17d. They had 2 sons, Daniel and Mathias

III. Daniel Dotterer, s/o Mathias was born July 4, 1755, died Sept 13, 1844, He married Barbara Muthart, born June 23, 1763, died Dec 3, 1843 and their children were; Mathias, John, Daniel 1792-1840, Jacob, George, Henry, Susanna, Catharine, and Margaret.

IV. Mathias Dotterer, s/o Daniel, was born 1787, he died 1871. He was married twice, 1st to Catharine Muhart, born Dec 21, 1799 died Aug 23, 1843. He married 2nd to Catharine Herb. He was the father of 14 children, Isaac, David, Jonathan, Aaron, George, Joseph, israel, John, Mathias, Abraham, Henry 1825-1856, William 1825-1903, Anna w/o Edward Anthony of Dale, PA and Catharine, w/o William Schoenly of Boyertown.

V. David, son of Mathia was born in Washington twp in 1823. He married Magdalena Heydt, d/o John and Magdalean (Weller) Heydt. She died in 1896. Children, James, Mathias H., John and Manasses, who died 1905 age 35.

VI. Mathias H., s/o David, on Nov 29, 1884 he married Torinda Gerhard, d/o Daniel and Eliza (Angstadt) Gerhard of Longswamp. Children; Winfield S. of Reading, Raymond A, Lloyd J., and Viola M.
