I doubt this is much help, I'm afraid.

As far as I am aware, my father's family comes from somewhere round the south end of Lincolnshire (eg Kings Lynn) and the north end of Huntingdon/Cambs, touching on Norfolk.

The reason this isn't much help is that about 50% of UK Doubledays seem to come from there.

My grandfather's name was John Thomas: both names are family names. His brothers (who died on the Somme in 1916) were named Percival and Charles. (Another brother named Frederick was alive when I was born.)

I mention all this because my family seems to like carrying names through the generations, so these might be ones to look out for.

You might also want to check out references to the towns of Wisbech and March in north Cambridgeshire, both of which are connected to my part of the family back in the 1850-1900 period.

Best of British,
Pete
