Hi Jacqueline,With the records from Acadie, I was limited to what I could find on the web, because I live in Oregon.I had to translate the story and may not have done a good job.My French is somewhat limited. The web site where I got the information is no longer available on the web. It did say "Que le dit Sieur de la Verdure sortira du fort soldat et domestiques,..." etc. I could scan what I have and send it to you if you wish.
Do you know if in fact Germain Doucet was "Sieur de la Verdure"?I will drop the "dit" name from my records.
If you can send my notes to SW in Moncton to see if he can verify them, that would be great.I consider genealogy a hobby and not true science; yet I strive for accuracy and am always willing to make corrections.
The main reason that I posted my notes was because I found out that many researchers are not even aware that their ancestors can be dated to the 1600s.
Thanks, Janet
