Apologies for being so long getting back here. Yes, Sinnett's works do have a lot of mistakes but in a pinch they do make great reference materials. My family was from Brunswick and Harpswell so I have many of his genealogies, some of them are hit or miss, but I've had good luck with most of them.
The branch of the Doughty's that were in Brunswick were descendants of the Scot POW Thomas Doughty, and my luck tracking down some of these Scot POW families has been either Great or Nil.
I have found some info from the Brunswick VR's on the Doughty's and some from Harpswell VR's as well.
Thanks again for the info and I will use the info I have with caution.
