I believe it highly likely that Joseph Sr. is the son of Daniel Doughty (b. ca. 1701 in Piscataway, NJ), son of Samuel Doty and Jane Harmon. Joseph's mother may have been Louisa _______. I'm seeking documentation, but haven't had much luck thus far.

Joseph, Sr. had a son named Jeremiah, but not an uncle by that name (if I'm correct about his parentage).

I'll keep you posted if I learn more.
