I think I can help you.

My ancestor is Hassie/Louisa Haseltine Rice, daughter of Jeptha Rice and Pallatiah Davis. She is your Pallatiah's sister and she married George Andrew Doughty, son of Mordecai Fulton Doughty and Rebecca Pryor.

I was browsing ALGenWeb, Fayette County marriages, for my relatives and wrote down "R. N. Doughty...Paltiah Rice" but nothing else because it was not my direct line. Now I can't find it again. (You probably know that spelling is meaningless.)

Check the 1850 Tuscaloosa census at M432-16, p. 194, image 113, for Robert N. Doughty, and also the 1860 Cornersville census at M653-592, p. 0 (??), image 369. (Ancestry.com)

Check Rootsweb for Robert Nelson Doughty, "Kinfolks", from Doyle Baker, for the pedigree. The Jeremiah Doughty born 1777 is my ancestor.

This could be your ancestor. He would be Mordecai's cousin.
