I have done a little research into my Dowd background and found a Michael Dowd buried in whyte Yarcowie. He may be the son of Patrick and Ann (Smyth or Smith), who came to Australia on the tantivy with 5 children. He would have been born after they arrived.http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/australia/tantivy1857.htm.
My great-grandfather is David, who travelled on the same ship but is listed in the bottom passenger list as an independent because he was 15. I have more info if you are still interested.
