Dear Jack,

Wow! I don't know what to say....Tomorrow (9/13) is Rich's birthday and I think this is probably the best present he is going to get!! I just forwarded all of your wonderfully detailed message to him and gave him a phone call to tell him the news. He always wondered why his father, William, very rarely spoke about his grandfather Townsend. Perhaps William knew about the first family in NJ, who knows? In any case, Rich is happy to finally know the truth and would love the opportunity to correspond/speak to you if you are willing to get the know "the other side" ; ) Please send me an email at if you can and I will ask him to send you a note. Then the two of you can take it from there : )
I can't thank you enough for the time and effort it took you to send the information. Apparently, Rich has been looking for this type of information since his father passed away in 1997. I just googled his father's name this afternoon, stumbled upon your entry in and the rest is history (technology is lovely sometimes).
Once again, thank you so much Jack and I hope you are willing to get to know the awesome Rich Dowd and his family!

You're an angel,
