Katharine "Kate" Dowdell

OK, here's a Dowdell mystery:

Katharine C. "Kate" Dowdell (1868-1937) married Charles H. Macarthy of Albany, Georgia in 1906 in Boston, Mass., of all places. This was a mulatto family and they lived in Albany, Ga. until Charles' death in 1922. Kate then moved to Oberlin, OH.

According to the marriage certificate, Kate's mother was Emma C. (Jones) and Alexander Dowdell. However, I felt sure, from my research, that her parents were Rev. Harris B. Dowdell, b. Alabama, but ministering in Albany, GA., and Emma Knight.

Were H. B. and Alexander related? brothers, maybe? Rev. Dowdell and Charlie Macarthy were friends, so I believe there must be some connection between Kate and the Rev.

Anybody have insight?
