Obit in Macon newspaper October 16, 1861:

"Died in Macon County, Sept. 26th, 1861, Mr. James Drawhorn, son of Thomas Drawhorn, aged 26 years, 8 months, 4 days. Enlisted in the Southern Confederacy under Capt. Griffin of the Butler Van Guards and was stationed at Yorktown...he was attacked with measles first, and then came fever, which resulted in his death; he lay sick in Yorktown nine weeks after which time he came helpless as an infant, and told his parent he had come home to die....."
