Hi! I'm glad to see this history also though I am not a Draughon myself. I am, however, the curator of the Ace of Clubs House in Texarkana, Texas which was built by James Harris Draughon originally from Waverly, TN. He and his family moved to Texarkana in 1873 when the town was founded and was said to have owned around 1/4 of Texarkana's wealth at one time (according to his obit in the Dallas Morning News). To see a picture of his unusual house visit www.texarkanamuseums.org, and come visit us if you get a chance. Also, we'd love to have any other information on his family that anyone may have. Off hand, I only remember his mother's name was Cassandra Murphy Draughon, and he had a brother named H.C. Draughon. If anyone has any Draughon photograps relating to this particular branch of the family, we'd love to have copies.
