I have done work on Draughns/Draughons because of their Carter connections. Alpheus Moses Draughn B. 15 May 1847 D. 13 June 1924 marr. Rachel Mixon B. 22 Mar 1852 D. 1 Mar 1923 Both buried Providence Cem., Eatonville, MS. Alpheus served in Confederacy in Co. E 3rd Battn Cav. Reserves. Alpheus son of Rufus Tisdale Draughn B. 17 Feb 1814 Sc D. 24 July 1881 Draughn Cem. ,Perry Co, MS. Marr. Sabra Ann DAvis. Rufus was son of John Tisdale Draughn B. 21 June 1787 Sumter Co, SC D. Oct 1818 Augusta, Perry Co, MS. His wife was Martha Hodge Courtney B. 16 Aug 1788 SC D. 3 May 1873 Perry Co, MS. John was buried "one mile north of Old Augusta". Martha his widow then married Col. Griffin Holliman, in John's estate records, Holliman left the "o" out of the Draughn name; this is when we start seeing Draughn instead of Draughnon. John T. Draughn was raised by his Tisdale grandparents (John & Jane)because his mom had died. Joshua his father, remarried, don't know her name, but would like to, & went to LA. John T. Draughn purchased land in Perry Co, MS. Never heard he was en route to join his father in LA. Was told his father first settled in MS then to LA. John T. Draughn's mother was Prudence Tisdale B. 1762 D. 3 July 1787 from child birth complications after she'd had John T. the month prior. I do not know who Joshua's parent's were, but would like to know.
