Would you mind supplying some information about Richard and Mary BARLING.
Where they lived? What they did for a living? Their family? Their way of life in general.
Where is or was Tomikan situated?
I hope this solves a few problems and good luck with your research.
(You may have some problems with the tab settings. Good luck figuring this out. Sorry.)

On 12 May,1839 John and Eliza with John’s older brother James and his younger sister Mary Francis Rebecca set sail from Gravesend on the 870 ton barque Cornwall and arrived in Sydney on 1 September,1839.
Initially John and Eliza settled in the Wollombi district where they raised 13 children.
In the late 1860’s, John and Eliza with their two elder married sons Henry and Edward and their families and with John and Eliza’s eight unmarried children, all moved to the Comiala district which is situated around the junction of the Munmurra Brook with the Goulburn River.

Various names and spellings were recorded in several different combinations. i.e.

A lot of people could neither read or write and so quite often the only record of their existance was through church registers.
