Hey Thomas,
it means Friesland ( speak: freezeland )and it is in nothern Germany, the "Friesischen Inseln".
There i found on "Langeroge", one of these islands, a Street
called .......(first name- i forgot it )-Dreesen-Street.
In 4 weeks i will be in Friesland and perhaps i will search this street on Langeroge.( perhaps )
I can follow my Family-name untill 1724. Every time i found names like: Paul, Johann, Johann Paul, Andreas, Hubert and so on. They all lived in the Eifel,- an Area in thesouth-east of Aachen( near the "Nürburg-Ring"(Formel 1).
My family lifed in Gemünd,and Monschau and Düren.
I hope it could be a little help for you. It's not easy, to write in english. excuse my english.
so long and " tschüs"
Helmut Dreesen
