Hi Shirley, Thanks for the input. I've often wondered if there might be some DREHnERs who were related to the DREHmERs. I've checked the persons you mentioned against what I have in my data and I can't find any obvious matches, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. From our "side" the original name of our ancestors in Germany was definitely DREHMER, but imigration people could have misunderstood someone at any point in the process. I think I showed in a previous message at least one census index which misspells DREHmER.

We do know that there were some DREHmERs who stayed behind in Germany. Your ancestor may be among their descendants. If you find any more info, let us know! Keep in touch.
