Hi Tom,

Niederlinxweiler was a good info and thanks for mentioning St. Wendel. I checked my list and found:
mason, bricklayer
Adam Drehmer oo Maria Katharina Schmelzer

Maria Katharina Drehmer
* 18.12.1816 Niederlinxweiler

farmer + bricklayer
Johann Georg Drehmer oo Katharina Gertrud Bill

kids in Niederlinxweiler
Sophia Luise * 31.12.1836
Johann Georg * 19.09.1838
Johann Jakob * 19.09.1838
Maria Elisabeth * 02.03.1841
Maria * 11.08.1842

accompanied by his parents Johann Jakob Drehmer, 66 y/o, and Luise Becker, 70 y/o, Georg Drehmer, 35 y/o, and his wife Gertrud Bill, 30 y/o, ask for permission to emigrate to the US on Feb 4, 1843.

The mayor of St. Wendel, Mr. Rechlin, states: He was the owner of a little hut and a property of about 10 "Morgen" farmland and about 12 Morgen meadows from which he feeded himself and his family very roughly. The last harvest was a crop failure and as he has not sufficient food for both animals and his family he lives in poor conditions. He fears to have to encumber with debts and therefore thinks of emigration, also caused by letters from his brothers in America.

Furthermore he thinks he will get farmland very cheap there (3 Dollars per Morgen) and has to pay no more taxes."

Maria Barbara * 15.03.1840
Barbara * 19.11.1842

summer 1854 Heinrich, 47, with his wife Charlotte, 43, and the kids emigrate via Antwerpen (agent: Stoeck, Bad Kreuznach) to Rio Grande do Sul/Brasilia.

Jakob Drehmer oo Katharina Mees

Philipp Schwingel oo Barbara Drehmer, 27,

kids in Remmesweiler:
Johann, 6,
Katharina, 5,
Barbara, 1.5,

the office states: "he wants to emigrate because his brother in law Georg Drehmer who lives in worse conditions than him also asked for permission to leave. Both have siblings in America, in Ohio and in Dansville (NY) who emigrated a couple of years ago and live in good conditions"

Philipp has 1,400 Taler (cash) and ask for permission to emigrate on Feb 4, 1843.

Personal dates are from Rudolf Gerber's "Family books of St. Wendel parish". Emigration dates from Josef Mergen "Die Auswanderungen aus den ehemals preußischen Teilen des Saarlandes im 19. Jahrhundert", Band 2 (emigrations from the formerly Prussian parts of the Saarland in 19th Century"; own translation .

If you needed xerox copies of the different sources, please, tell me your adress.
