It would seem that my Divelbiss (also spelledDevelbiss, Divilbiss and many times Divelbliss) maybe common to the Dreibelbis. Our line arrived in Philadephia, PA 21Sept1731 on the ship Britannia from Rotterdam.Listed as passengers of that ship were :Hans Michel Debelbesin age 22,Hans Debelbesin age 18, Hans Georg Debelbesin age 16, Magdelena Debelbesin age 18 and Casper Debelbesin age 10.This family then proceeds to Maryland where various court proceeding establishes that they were siblings.Michael(1709-1755) dies in Maryland and his estate is divided between Christian, Catherine, Jacob, Barbara, Mary, and Michael, all known as Devilbiss in 1757.Michael (1748-1819) the son then settles in Little Cove, Franklin, PA.His Children are recorded as; Michael b 4Jun1771 d unk, John b 10Mar1773 d 22Mar1851, Catherine b 26Apr1776 md a MILEY d Unk, Jacob b 5Apr1779 d unk, George b 15Jan1786 d unk, David b 1789 d 31Aug1835, Fredrick b 5Aug1792 d 22Mar1862.All children except Fredrick were probably born in Hagerstown, MD,Fredrick was born in Little Cove, PA, served in War of 1812 and married Elizabeth Wetzel 1795-1885).His son John Quincy Divelbiss b 28Jul1828 in Little Cove, PA md Nancy B.
