Drennan/Dewey connection

My Great Grandfather-Gr-Uncle and my father's names were James Henry Dennan. My Great Grandpa wad a fire man for the city of Detroit in early 1890-1930. My Great grandmother was Maraget McCabe. My Grandpa Francis William had 2 brothers,Edward T. and a younger brother James H. who drowned as a chld. I am just starting my search for family. But my whole life every time Tom Dewey, the Gov. of New York, was in or on the news we heard all about how he was my dad's 3rd cousin. I would love to find this link. If anyone has any info about the Dewey/Drennan link please email me at juliendon50@comcast.net. Tom Dewey was the presidental nominatation for the Republcans that ran against Truman. All the newspapers ran Dewey 'WINS ELECTION' because the polls looked so sure but in fact they jumped the gun and Truman did win in '44, I believe. Also Uncle Edward was about 8 years older than Uncle James and blamed himself. He left in a state of depression, never to be heard of again. Any clues there would be appreciated.
Thank you and happy hunting,
Julie
