Thanks for your information
hopefully i can findout more information on my Janet Drennan which will help me take her family back a generation or two, I am awaiting her marriage/Banns cert from her marriage to William Borland in 1795 from the Scottish records Office and i hope i can then pinpoint her families exact whereabouts in Ayrshire
luckily there are only 17 Janet Drennans records in the Scottish records, unluckily they are all in Ayrshire, but ive narrowed these down to 2 possibles and i reckon i have a good chance of determining which one she is..as soon as the certs arrive that is!!(waiting 3 weeks now)
but i strongly suspect unless i am very lucky that i will not be able to trace this Drennan line back to Ireland, I am Irish and I know from spending many long hours studying the records in Government repositories in Dublin that solid geneaological evidence is hard to find on Irish families in the 18th & early 19th centuries...or when it exists you rellay need to be a professional archivist r researcher to know where it is held and how to access it.
thanks for your replies
