In September 1918 an ALICE LAWRIE registered the death of her husband DAVID DRYNAN at Kirkintilloch, Dumbarton, Scotland. He was 60 years of age, described as a Marine Engineer and had died at Woodilee Asylum, Lenzie. She classed herself as his WIDOW and the registrar had recorded that she had been married to him. Their normal residence was recorded as 40 McIntosh Street, Dennistown, Glasgow. David Drynan had been born at Girvan, Ayrshire about 1858, his father being David Drynan and his mother being recorded as Elizabeth Clenaghan. No record of such a Drynan/Lawrie marriage can be located and also no trace of a Scottish death record for Alice Lawrie with other surname drynan? Was this a 'Common Law' marriage by 'habit and repute'? Did they have children? Anyone connected to them? Notify Administrator about this message?
