The Martha Drenon/Drennon you are reseaching could be the sister or cousin of the following:

James Sterling Drenon, born Jan 25, 1842 in Tennessee; died Dec. 3, 1931 in Benton Co. MO. He was the son of Thomas Drenon and wife unknown. The father, Thomas Drenon migrated from Ireland in 1790 settling in TN before moving his family by covered wagon to Hickory County, MO.

James Sterling Drenon married Milly C. Dodd, born 1843 in Pulaski Co.,MO; d. July 25, 1925, Benton Co, MO. James served in the Union Army and following the war he and his family moved to Texas for a brief time before returning to Benton Co., MO.

In James Drenon's obituary it states that he and wife, Milly had 12 children but only 7 are mentioned as surviving; Lem, Tom, Noah, Eli, Henry, Albert, all of Benton Co., MO and Mrs. Ollie Edwicton of California.

Both James and Milly Drenon are buried near Edwards, Benton Co., MO in what is known locally as Bethel Camp Grounds Cemetery. James was a long time caretaker of this Methodist Cemetery and would play the bugle at Memorial Day services.

The above information was taken from Vol. 2, page 47g of the History of Benton County, Missouri by White and Miles; published by The Printery in Clinton, MO.

Hope this will help you find your Drenon ancestors.
