I tried to email you directly but the email addy listed for you here does not work. Thought you would like to know.
I've noticed some places where 'Dressel' and 'Dussel' replace each other in geneaology records/info. Do you find this happens in the Dusseldorf &/or Germany areas, too? Just curious.
Would you mind my asking you, since you live in Germany, what or where or how could I go about looking for info on Dressels that lived in Frankfurt in the early 1800s?
I understand that city was pretty hard hit during the war and many records may be lost.
If you would like me to help you look for people here in the US, just let me know and I would love to.
FYI: My earliest known relative is Mathias Dressel of Frankfurt. He is the father of George Mathias Dressel, born in Frankfurt about 1835. I don't know yet Mathias' wife's name or if he had more children or his parents' names, etc.
George is my great-great-grandfather and
* came to the US/New York City (Bronx) about 1860,
* fought in our Civil War (1860-65),
* moved to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania,
* married twice,
* had 6 children,
* moved back to the Bronx (NYC) and
* was buried in Middle Village, Queens, NY about 1915.
Thank you for any help or ideas you might have.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
