Does anyone know about this family?
I just got information on my fathers (James Grass's mothers side, his father was married to a Mary Dressler) I always felt that his grandmother (Mary Polly Fox) and the Dressler's knew eachother from way back. Now I know. Here is why. I just got these papers..
Samuel I Fox who started my line was NOT an indentured servant but came here from England. He was known as a plantor(in 1789). He had nine children Bartlett, John, Samuel II, Anne, Richard, Susanna, Sarah(Sally) William, Joseph
He boughten 100 acres of land from James Martin Jr. containing 80 across Amherst co. on both sides of Pounder Branch,10 believed to be situated near what is now Avon co. and 10 Nelson co. All this at the Pounders Branch, Indian Branch, at the Foot hills of the Blueridge Mountains of Waters of Rockfish River
He came from the British Colonies in 1730's
I might add to this that William Fox, Samuel Fox I son bought land from James and Susanna Trusler/Tressler/Dressler. Now she is also a relative. Mary Dressler was my grgrgrandmother. My grgrandfather James William (who married my grgrandmother Mary Polly)was born in this area and I have said all along that the families have known the Dresslers all along. (Grass's, Fox's and Dressler's)The spellings have been off and at times way off..such as it always has been in documents as it gets pasted down..but this is just another proof of my instinct...
