Droddy burial Sites and research trip
I just had a most informative research trip to Newton Co. TX.I spent a most enjoyable time with the volunteers that work in the Historical Society Archives and learned a lot of history on some of my ancestors. They had very little on the DRODDY line and I was very disappointed that they didn't.
I visited the cemeteries in and around Stringtown, right out of Burkeville and found a lot of my ancestors.
Though I am not directly descended from Rev. William A. DRODDY m. Dicey WATSON, I was saddened to see the state of the cemetery and of their graves. They are buried in the Morrison Cemetery even though the land for the Old Union Cemetery was donated by William A.Another wife of his is buried in the Spears Chapel Cemetery not far awaw and this grave and cemetery are well kept. The headstone for Dicey Watson DRODDY had fallen over and was leaning against a fence post that was ready to fall over also.It needs to be Cemented in to the base.If anyone lives in that area and has the time, it would be very much appreciated if you could do this simple task to save a part of our history.
