The Druces of Frome

My name is John Druce living in Carshalton, Surrey. I am researching my family name and have managed to get back as far as 1575 with a Mathew Druce being my earliest traceable ancestor. The ancestors lived in Frome, Somerset and were mainly weavers by trade.

When the weaving trade died out in Frome in about 1850, my ancestors moved to Battersea in London, where both my grandfather and father were born. A number of families in Frome emigrated to Australia, Canada and the U.S.A. As I have now discovered quite a bit about the family, I decided to create a website which you might like to visit, namely, 'The Druces of Frome' at:

I should mention, also, that I have found other prominent Druce families in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Yeovil, Somerset.

Any information that you could provide would be gratefully received. Thank you for your time.

Yours sincerely

John Druce
