I have a William Lancefield of St.Marylebone,London, wine merchant who married in 1831 to Sarah Maria Druce. They went to Texas for one year it seems as their dau. Helen Margaret was born there 1842 according to 1851 census of Cunningham Place, St. John's Wood, London. Does anyone know of a Druce going to Texas at this time which might explain their journey - William kept his house at Cunnigham Place and returned there by 1844.
Thre is also a book I have found called the"Strange Case of Mr Druce" which relates to the Duke of Portland supposedly going out "incognito" as Mr Druce - anyone else know of this?
