I am trying to locate information re place of origin/immigration information related to John (Johan?) Druschel b. c1851 and wife, Maria Fourbel(alternately Faubel)b. 1860 both in Germany. Emigrated ~1883 from ?port to NYC. 1900 Kings Co.(Brooklyn, NY) census shows the family to be living at 224 Ellery St. B'lyn. John is listed as a "mechanic".
Children in the family include: Fredd b. 1884, a "polisher", Emma, b. 1887, Dinna b. 1891, Heinrich Daniel (later known as William) b. 1893, Robert b. 1897.
Two children were deceased prior to 1900.
John died c1898 and Maria died in 1901 breakin up the family. Wm., my grandfather,
was shipped to Ontario Co, Canandaigua, NY on an orphan train and raised by the Booth family. He married Louise Rossier, 9 yrs his senior, in 1920 and had 2 children, Henry Rossier, my dad, b. 1921, d.1998. and Margaret Louise, b. 1923, d.1955. Wm. died in 1983.
Emma (retarded? infirm?)was placed in Wassaic (NY) State Hospital where she remained for the rest of her life and d. 1970s. The whereabouts of the other children are unknown. As they were quite young, they may have been adopted and names changed.
The family was either related to or very close with the Keucke family, also of B'lyn. Wm. wrote to "Cousin" Charles Keucke during WW I from France. Marguerite Keucke and husband Henry Prull, a photographer, relocated from B'lyn and joined Wm. near Canandaguia.
Will welcome all replies. Druschel is still not a common name in the states. Numerous queries to found Druschels have been dead ends so far.
