Hi,

Did you ever get to the bottom of the Dubiel dilemma? The non-Polish sounding nature of this name just occurred to me too. My mum's side were Polish, my grandmother was Dubiel. She was Krakow, from quite a high up family as your post mentions, at least her family was high up before WW2 anyways.
