I think your Patrick was the man who served as an acting master in the CS Navy during the Civil War. This is what I have for him:

Ducey, P.
       Born in
       Appointed Acting Master, CSN, from _______, 17 September 1861.
Commanding CS Launch No. 2, New Orleans Naval Station, 1861-1862. Jackson Naval Station, 1862.

I'll appreciate anything you can find.
