Thanks for the follow-up. According to my files, Jacob was born on April 5, 1859, but this may be the christening date, in St-Joseph, Goderich, Ontario.

Marguerite was born January 1st, 1857. I don't have any information about the fact that she was partly Indian. Not impossible, although her parents's name, Bédard and Comtois, are truly French-Canadian.

All these people (Ducharme, Bédard, Comtois etc.) were people form Québec that settle in Huron County, Ontario, between 18000 and 1850 or so. You can a lot of details on these families in T.W Denomme's book, «Our French Canadian Ancestry in Huron County».
