EARLY DAY RESIDENT IS CALLED BY DEATH
Ben Ducharme, one of the old timers of the reservation, died at his home in this city at the advanced age of 75 years, last Monday noon.
Mr. Ducharme was one of the best known men of Indian blood on the reservation, and at one time was well-fixed in worldly goods. He owned one of the best ranches in the valley, and gave liberally of his time and money to both Indians and white alike. He was born in Oregon but his mother was born in this state. His father came from Montreal, Canada.
For the past several years, or until he no longer was able to travel, he spent the summers in the mountains, prospecting. His numerous friends on the reservation will miss Ben Ducharme, as his home was always open to all.
I am not related.
