From what I know, here is the picture:
-Pierre Ducharme, who was working in Capelton mine near Sherbrooke, and also in Vermont and New-Hampshire, married Philomène Cadorette, likely around 1870 in the USA, since this marriage cannot be found in Québec's registers. They had one son, born on March 13, 1873.
-Philomène must have died young, since Pierre married again, on March 22, 1877, in La Patrie, to Marie Cadoresste, a cousin to Philomène. They had at least 8 children, from 1877 to 1888, including twins in 1886. Maxime, born on June 20, 1877, was born only 3 months after Pierre and Marie, marriage.
-Since Maxime got married to Lydia Corbel in 1901, he was certainly born between before 1882. thus while Pierre was married to Marie Cadorette. Of course, it's possible that Maxime was born from another union between Pierre and Philomene Leclerc, but I would be surprise if Pierre has married a third time.
What are the sources telling us? I was not able to check the original registers, but here is what we find:
1- In Drouin,male serie, volume 16, it is stated that Maxime Ducharme (son of Pierre + Philomène Leclerc) married Lydia Corbeil (Bénoni Corbeil + Marie-Anne Forget)
2- However, in the «Index consolidé des décès du Québec» from 1826 to 1996, it is stated that Maxime died on September 12, 1965, in Sherbrooke. He is stated as being the son of P. Ducharme and Marie Cadorette.
Obviously, there was a mistake somewhere: in the original register, in Drouin, or in the Index. But where?
What is needed here is a primary source, such as a marriage contract or a copy of an act extracted from the original registers. Maybe you have such a source, which would solve the problem. If not, I will try to check the original registers. I will also contact Micheline Ducharme, my original source.
