Hi, Janice! Thanks, that's very interesting. I don't know if I'll ever solve that mystery. I can trace most of the folks in my mum's tree via marriages, but there are a few where the line does not seem to extend back to France. There are some in the Dufour part of my Duchesne line (My great grandfather Gonzague married a Mathilde Dufour, and my grandfather Arthur was born in St Jerome de Metabachouan (by Lac St Jean) in 1886. Mathilde's father Jean was from Les Eboulements and there are a few question marks in that line, for example, a lady called Marcelline Tremblay (jean's mother). I can't seem to find any record of her ancestry. Oh well.... thanks again.
