Gosh that was a quick reply! I guess you must be on the internet at the same time as I am.

My next question is, do you know whereabouts in Yorkshire your father was born? Was it either Huddersfield, Holmfirth or Sheffield? I only give you those options in case you need them as a memory trigger. Have you looked up his birth certificate on the St Catherine's indexes? Only applicable, of course, if you are in England yourself. That would be an obvious place to start as it would give you his place of birth as well as his parents' names, including his mother's maiden name.

I will help if I can but unless you can dredge up a little more information, we're a bit limited.
