I do have a known link back to the UK, only family legend (few facts and no dates). My great-great-grandfather was Thomas Campion Duddy, reported to have come to the US from England (with his parents?). Thomas Campion Duddy was one of four sons, all of whom were in the US Civil War (1861-1865), and all survived. Thomas was a Colonel but I do not know if he was in the Union or Conferderate army.
The exact spelling of his given name is not certain but I am not aware of any spelling changes to the surname. At some point he married Sarah Delancey (sp?) before or after the war is unknown. They settled in Iowa after the war and moved to Tennessee in 1881 where Thomas was murdered in 1881. The family moved to Pennsylvania in 1910. Thomas and Sarah had 5 children, Thomas Campion, Arthur, Joseph, George William (b.1874 in DuBuque, Iowa) and Henrietta.
That's pretty much all I know. Any link you can provide would be much appreciated.
