I have done some more research at the history room at Kingston Libary, and have discovered from the 1881 census that Richard Dudney my Great Grandfather was born 1825 Shermanbury, Sussex. Samuel Dudney was born 1801 Shermanbury, Sussex, Robert Dudney born 1802, George Dudney born 1813 Sompting Sussex. What I do not know is their relationship. The Dudney's in England seem to all trace their ancestory back to Sussex. I intend to go down to Chichester and visit the Sussex count record office to do some research in the near future.

Could you give me more information on the The George & Samuel that were in the book if their is any. I could not find a Samuel born in 1840, in the 1881 census but of course he may not have been in UK in 1881. There were 2 Dudney's listed in the census born 1840 Thomas Dudney born in Devon and Henry Dudney born in Kent.
