John: The DIEUDONNE (DUDNEY) were French and yes they were Hugenots. They fled France @1575 and went to Ireland,(Dublin, Waterford & Portarlington).In the records of the Diocese of Cloyne in Ballytrasney, Castlelyons, the family of Henry DUDNEY was listed. Some of the DUDNEY's left Ireland, not all left. Some stayed in Ireland and some stayed in England.
Mine went to Barbados. Hendrick, Francis, John & Abraham DUDNEY. John DUDNEY died in Barbados as he is buried there. He died there 29 June 1679.
Abraham DUDNEY left Barbados for Boston, Mass. on the ship "SUPPLY" 24 May 1679. In 1690 he is in Baltimore County, Maryland. Abraham DUDNEY had a son, Roger DUDNEY that married Jane LEEK 10 Sept. 1708 in Baltimore Co. Md. They had 4 daughters and 1 son. The son was Abraham DUDNEY and he married Sarah GRIFFIN on Aug. 2, 1731 and they lived in Dorchester Co. Maryland and had 2 sons known of: Aleas & Abraham DUDNEY. This Abraham DUDNEY married Mary ? Their children were: John, Abraham, Arthur, Barnes & William DUDNEY. They left Maryland and went to Anson County, North Carolina. Then went to Washington Co. Georgia. Abraham & Mary DUDNEY's son Arthur DUDNEY was my GGGG-Grandfather. He married Charlotte HORTON and they lived in Lumpkin, Georgia~Stewart County. Their son Pleasant Howard DUDNEY Born 1828 is my GGG-Grandfather. He married Harriett DIXON in 1848 and their daughter, Charlotte Harriett DUDNEY born 1851 was my GG-Grandmother. Pleasant DUDNEY left Georgia and settled in Bossier Parish Louisiana. Charlotte DUDNEY married Hartwell Marion MATLOCK in 1869 and she died age 26 in 1877 and buried Bossier Par. La. Her and Hartwell Marion MATLOCK had 4 children: Joseph, George, Harriett & Ida Lee MATLOCK.
