You probably know this already, but I have viewed the 1851 Plumstead census. It is on LDS microfilm No 0174826 HO 107/1590, f259b and shows the following:-

56 (or156) Deadman's Lane Plumstead

Dudney William 45 Cooper Re Arsenal
Dudney Martha 42
Dudney John 14 Labourer Arsenal
Dudney Henry 11
Dudney Alfred 7
Dudney George 5
Dudney Robert 2

All of the above were born in Woolwich Kent.

William Dudney Master Cooper retired (1881 census), John Dudney died on route to Australia 15 Dec 1876 (cooper) and Henry Dudney (cooper).

I guess they made gunpowder barrels as I assume Arsenal refers to the Woolwich Arsenal which was a 60 acre military establishment. It is now a military museum.

Deadman's Lane and Orchard Road Plumstead don't appear on my London A to Z but Woolwich Arsenal is still there.
