I have further information. William and Margaret (Stinchcomb) Duer's son, John Owings Duer (5/21/1840 to 1/2/1925) was my great-grandfather. He came from Iowa and homesteaded 80 acres in Smith County, KS, and I was born and raised on that farm. He married twice--first to Narcissus McIlvain on 12/28/1862 and again to Rachel Gillam on 11/26/1868 after Narcissus died. John and Narcissus had two children--William Harry (11/2/1863 to 1/13/1907) and Carrie Margaret (9/27/1866 to ?). John and Rachel had four children--Elmer Owen (8/19/1869 to 5/20/1941), Elta Jane (3/13/1871 to 9/4/1941), Sherman (6/23/1873 to 7/22/1943) and Lida Myrtle (10/9/1876 to ?). Lida Myrtle was my paternal grandmother. She married Elton Grant Hinshaw (2/14/1869 to 10/27/1958) on 1/23/1898. They had four children--Clarence Franklin (1/25/1900 to 2/8/1990), Rachel Ellen (5/19/1902 to 2/2/1970), Alice Irene (9/5/1907 to 7/1/1908) and Archie Elton (8/20/1912 to ?). Clarence Franklin Hinshaw was my father. I have other details which I will not try to put in this message. If anyone is interested, I can provide more detail.
