Marilyn C. Green, 86, Falls City, Neb., died April 26,
2007, at the Falls City Care Center. She was born March
23, 1921, the daughter of Ralph M. and Christine D.
Green, on the Iowa Indian Reservation near White
Cloud, Kan.
She was born with a deficiency thought to be
connected with the spine. Her parents gained
extensive treatments believed to be corrective. At age
four Marilyn and her family moved from the reservation
to Falls City. It was discovered by a local physician that
Marilyn suffered from a birth defect diagnosed as a
thyroid deficiency. The family was told it was too late to
remedy the resultant physical and mental retardation
caused by the thyroid problem, which if properly
diagnosed earlier would have permitted Marilyn to
have developed normally.
After a succession of caretakers following her mom's
death, Marilyn was comfortably and happily cared for
in the Falls City Care Center. Despite all else Marilyn is
indelibly etched as a cherubic, lovable, and beautiful
little soul who has a reserved seat awaiting her in the
House of the Lord.
Marilyn is survived by an older brother Vernon of
Green Valley, Ariz., and a younger sister Norma Howell,
of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six
brothers William, Ralph, Albert, Eugene, Homer, Cecil;
and sister Lucile.
Burial was in the Hiawatha Cemetery April 30, 2007.
