Hi Matt,

My mom was a Duford, she was a first cousin once removed from Henry. Their most recent common ancestor was Narcisse Duford. As far as I know, and I've gone back to Prudent Bougret dit Duford, who married in Trois Rivieres in 1673, there aren't any First Nation marriages. That's not to say that there aren't any in your grandmother's line, which I have not investigated. You might try having your mtDNA or yDNA done in the simplest test which gives your haplogroup as Amerindians have a distinct haplogroup. I'm no help because mine is ordinary everyday European H.

Best, Janine
