I don't have information on your John Edward Dufford, but with a little extra info I might be able to do some "digging".

My great-great grandmother was Minnie Isabel Dufford, born 1871 in Butler County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Jacob Henry Dufford and Mary A. Hepler.

The Duffords of Butler county were from Northampton County, Pennsylvania, descendants of Adam and Susanna Dufford. Adam was one of the sons of Philip & Eva Anthoni Dufford. Philip was the son of Philip Dufford, and these were the immigrants who came to German Valley, New Jersey, arriving through the port of Philadelphia in 1738. They were supposedly from Langensultzbach, Germany, earlier from Alsace-Loraine (the disputed German-French territory), and were likely French Huguenots.
