Does anyone have any information on Dufresne's in St.Hyacinthe, Quebec Canada prior to 1850. I think my ancestors came from there to Essex, Vermont before 1850. Their name in Quebec I believe was Dufresne and they change it to Ash to be Americanized.
My gg grandfather Lewis Ash was born in St.Hyacinthe, PQ. It is possible that he was born Louis Dufresne and became Lewis Ash when they moved to Vermont.
