So Harrison what are your sources that prove this is the son of Benjamin LeBlanc and Felicite Marois.....so far you have not provided on the LeBlanc forum one shred of evidence to prove your claim...I see this as more blackwashing by you regarding the LeBlanc lineage. You can not answer Stanley LeBlanc's questions...and they are valid questions.
Emails to Lee Crockett from noted LeBlanc genealogist Stanley LeBlanc. He can be contacted at the website address below.
Benjamin and Felicite Marois did have a son named Marcellin [bt as Etienne Marcellin - his godfather was his uncle Eitenne who was my 3rd great-grandfather]. Marcellin was born in 1811 and married Marguerite Arthemise Dugas in 1830. His name is shown as Marcellin on the records.
I haven't found a death record for Arthemise Dugas but it is possible that she died and that Marcellin married or had a relationship with a woman of color. I haven't found a mariage record or the birth record for any of the children listed on the 1880 census. I did find a death record for Elphege LeBlanc son of Marcellin [mother not shown] in 1882 at age 5 which is consistent with the age of 3 on the 1880 census.
Without a marriage record or other documents showing the names of the parents, one can only speculate that this Marcellin was the son of Benjamin [there were other Marcellin LeBlancs]
You might ask Harrison to provide references for his conclusions. For example, why did he determine that Marcellin on the 1880 census was the son of Benjamin when there were other persons named Marcellin? Does he have a marriage record or birth records for the children or just the 1880 census. I'm open to the fact that Marcellin may have had children with a woman of color but one should be willing to provide documentation when posting lineages. This is the major reason that I don't use World Connect or any of the other lists - the info isn't documented.
