The majority view is that Claude Dugas was Amand Dugas' father. There is a minority view that Joseph Dugas was the father. Unfortunately with events this far in the past, resolution is not that simple.

Often when a genealogy goes back this far, there are several conflicting sources of information. Sometimes there are conflicting parents, conflicting spouses, dates, etc. You should just take it all with a grain of salt and enjoy what you have; none of it is for certain unless you have some form of primary documentation.
