Here is a bit I have for William's mother, Alice:
Bio of Wm. T. Duggins in Missouri county history states Alice emigrated to America with her only child, William, after the death of her husband, who was English. She settled in Fredericksburg, Va, when William was 7 years old.
She married Robert Wilkerson, by whom she had three children, and passed her last days in that town.
Spotsylvania, Va., County Records, 1721-1800 ---Wills, Will Book E1772-1798,
WILKERSON, ROBERT, Spotsylvania Co., d. Dec. 20, 1778, Executors Bond dated Mar. 18, 1779. Wit. James Mason, Joshua Smith, Betey Turnley, Ex. John Lewis, William Duggins. Leg. wife, and after her death the estate to be equally divided amongst the children; son George; William Duggins, guardian to my son George (p. 299)
(copied from records found on Ancestry.com Search Results.
So it seems that William's father was ENGLISH and another bio from Mo. states that Alice was "of Irish descent". Which really doesn't prove she was born in Ireland, does it? I am of Irish descent, too, but back about 1800 or before!!
I have lots more.
Also, William was not a Captain in the Revolution, only a private, but he was at Valley Forge and practically everywhere else in that war!!
Let me know if you want more.
