Duignan Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Andrew,
I don't think your Michael Duignan is closely related to my family who were spelling their name Dignon by the 1860s. However, there were a lot of Duignans (and all variations of the name)in Glasgow in the 19th cent.If you are hoping to go back from Michael Duignan, since you know when and where he was born, a copy of his birth certificate from Edinburgh will also tell you his parents' names, the date of their marriage and the exact address of his birth. If you are able to go to Glasgow you could look up the family in the 1911 census at the Mitchell Library and then might find other siblings too.I already knew about Bartholomew Dignon but found records of his marriage and the baptism of various of his children on the IGI and you might find records of your family from the 1830s onwards there.
