My name is John Francis Duignan. My father was Luke Duignan, born in Ireland on July 3, 1899. My father left Dublin and arrived at Ellis Island in 1925. He married Ellen Proudfoot (born 1900) from Dublin and raised a family in Scranton, PA. He had a sister Josie Duignan McCrea in New Port News, VA. My name has always ben pronounced as "DEGNAN" but I have had so much trouble with people mispronouncing it that I changed the pronounciation to "DOO IG NAN." I did not know about this forum until recently, I am very interested in learning about my origin, and I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.
